Gifts for Kids

As the holidays approach, here are my top favorite gift ideas that work for any occasion! While I love experience gifts, it’s nice to have some additional ideas for those who prefer to gift* something tangible, and I try work within these categories…

  1. Excursions - Memberships to local museums, movie tickets, gift cards for ice cream outings, etc.

  2. Books!!! - you can never go wrong

  3. Building Blocks - wooden, magnetic, LEGO

  4. Pretend Play - food, cars, trains, animals, dolls, dress-up

  5. Art/Sensory supplies - paints, paper, markers, stickers, Play-Do, a bin full of beans with scoops and toy construction vehicles

  6. Active/Outdoor Toys - balls, bikes + scooters, gardening tools, or a Stomp Rocket

  7. Board Games - my current favorites (for my kids ages 5, and nearly 7 and 9) are Zingo, Monopoly Jr, Hoot Owl Hoot, Super Stretchy ABC, Qwirkle, and card games like Uno.
