Picasso said “everyone is an artist” and I believe it, because creating really boils down to the process more so than the end result. We are using our bodies to to process the world around us, the joy and the pain. We are testing and imagining and failing and trying again and using all of our senses to experience color, texture, smell.
Maybe we paint, we play piano, we bake, we cook a meal from scratch, we dance (even in the kitchen), we write, we garden. So even if you don’t consider yourself “artsy”, you are still creative. We are all artists, in some form or another. Using our stories to uplift, encourage, carry, share bits of ourselves in this journey of life, hopefully allowing us to see and experience joy.
Leaning into this season of life, making room in my spaces and schedule has given our family the space to pull out paints more regularly and spontaneously (because I am artsy, my creativity is fed through this rather than in the kitchen or on paper), to build connection together at the kitchen table, or just enjoy some quiet introvert time for myself. It’s allows space for letting of some steam, which we all need.
What can you do to make room to create?
