Easter is three weeks away and holidays can be a time when more stuff coming in the door can feel overwhelming. In this season of spending more time at home waiting out the global pandemic, more clutter is the last thing we need. Here is how I keep clutter at bay for Easter, even while I enjoy pulling together Easter baskets for my kids….
Buy consumables and try to buy local when possible (I’m linking to some below).
Here are the ideas we use year after year:
CANDY
I used to stress about all the sugar, but because I know we make healthy choices day to day, I have no problem with Easter candy. Support a small business this year if possible. Tuck some treats into these reusable snack bags.
CREATIVE
Supplies that need replenishing, like sidewalk chalk (or make your own sidewalk chalk paint), markers, paints + brushes, fun embellishments, small lego sets, water play, sensory items like play-doh
OUTDOORS
Flower or veggie seeds, garden tools + gloves for kids, watering can, fairy garden items (you can even pull items from your house to repurpose in a fairy garden like whimsical Christmas ornaments, mardi gras beads, sewing implements like thimbles and empty spools, rocks from the yard painted as ladybugs, seashells from a past beach trip, sparkly marbles or polished stones. There are plenty of DIY ideas on Pinterest too. Package them up in a special fairy goody bag and you likely have a stocked basket for your tiny magic lovers.
SUMMER/TRAVEL
My kids always need new suits, flip flops, and goggles, and can sometimes use a pair of sunglasses, a sun hat, towel, pool toys, or beach gear. These make great basket fillers and cross some things you NEED off your list. If you have a trip planned, consider adding some activities that can be used on a long road trip (magnetic games) or some creative workbooks, sudoku, scratch art, etc.
SELF CARE
You can never go wrong with a book or two. Nail Polish, lotion, jewelry, and these kid bath bombs are always a favorite with my kids. Owie bags are great for the littles, too.
